TO CATCH A KICK ASS

Kix and Silver are sent to smash a fake goods ring and both agents are in massively violent moods, showing off the greatest display of dangerous high kicking since El Classico. Kix’s suspicions have been roused though and as they take down an army of racketeers in a ruthless display unarmed combat, all is revealed in Kick Ass Kandy’s most epic finale!

In the recent months, KAK movies carefully built up the suspense regarding the mysterious and devilish Bad Ass Girls (which will culminate in the hopefully not-so-far launch of the new site) and this film is another important cornerstone. Funny, but this theme also lends these movies a more ominous and intriguing premise: now the Kick Ass Girls finally have enemies who are just as capable and dangerous as them. I’m not too fond of f/f fighting, but still, I’m intrigued by the possibilities – what would happen in this conflict? Who will prevail? Perhaps we’ll get to see a more coherent storyline, spanning dozens of missions about he two team’s war, ending with the defeat of one side or the other? Stories which will start in a KAK movie and continue on the other website in a BAK release? The possibilities are endless…

In fact, perhaps this was the first film where I was just as interested in the story as the fighting. (Spoilers ahead!) The ending was really tense and dramatic, for a moment, I truly believed that Silver will shoot Kix (though I wouldn’t believe that she’ll die, of course, just getting injured, to recover later and go after her traitorous partner). Or that they would fight on the spot. Though it didn’t end either way, but the ending was still quite serious for such a light-hearted movie – after all, poor Kix had to see two of her partners turned evil. How will this affect her future relationship with other Kandygirls? Could she trust them or she’ll go on solo missions instead?

Speaking of the girls, Silver was great in her role as the „wolf-in-sheep’s clothes”, but this time, I was totally enthralled by Hi-Kix. I don’t know how she’s doing it, but she keeps getting better and more beautiful in every movie (perhaps her new hairstyle has something to do with it). I love how she smiles when she stalks or taunts her opponents, and she looks gorgeous in this outfit – those high kicks are even more amazing with these boots!

The action was superb. It’s no secret that I love kicks, and this movie contained an amazing number of them, delivered in spectacular ways. There were some nice new moves, as well, like a sweeping kick and the use of some makeshift weapons (garbage can lid, plastic cans). Some features that truly stood out:

    1. The fantastic kicking action between 1:50-1:58. A marvel of direction and editing.
    2. The unbelievable synchronized fighting at 10:20-11:04. It must have been really hard to orchestrate this way but the result well worths it. Amazing.

Also, it’s great that we get to see the best moves from more angles, it keeps the fight more dynamic and exciting. The occasional use of slow motion (like at the end of Silver’s roundhouse kick) is another nice technique.

I must mention that I also liked those nice puns with the faked goods („Nuke” LOL).

Overall, the more KAK movies I watch, the more I become convinced that we haven’t seen anything yet. The creators of these movies have more than a couple of new tricks in their sleeve…
